Here are some musical bits I've cobbled together for use with audio and video projects. Each one can be expanded, reduced, folded, spindled and mutilated to suit any specific length or style needs—or I can come up with some new ones by request.
Holiday Hop: Let the holidays swing!
Holiday Hop [0:34, 808k]
Big Band Bebop: Constructed primarily of royalty-free loops.
Big Band Bebop [1:42, 2mb]
Big Band Swing: Constructed primarily of royalty-free loops. The two "Big Band" tracks were born as part of the soundtrack to a friend's short film, set in the 1940s.
Big Band Swing [1:09, 1.4mb]
Deportee: An edgy alt-country rocker with a mandolin solo between the guitar solos. Constructed mainly of royalty-free loops (I played the rhythm guitars).
Deportee [1:36. 1.9mb]
Beach Jam: I love steel drums, don't you? Constructed of royalty-free loops.
Beach Jam [2:13, 2.6mb]
Let's Get a Beat: Constructed primarily of royalty-free loops.
Let's Get a Beat [3:04, 3.6mb]
If That Thing Had a Name: Constructed primarily of royalty-free loops. This and "Let's Get a Beat" were conceived during sessions with Zan Aquart, the guitarist on "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life."
If That Thing Had a Name [3:35, 4.2mb]
Pokey: A radio-friendly country riff.
Pokey [1:12, 1.4mb]
Stampede: Written for a photographer friend, to accompany a slideshow of his son's kindergarten class.
Stampede [2:40, 3mb]
Boogie: A ZZ Top-esque rockabilly 12-bar. I've included 2 versions: one with various instrumental solos, and one "naked." Constructed of royalty-free loops.
Boogie (naked) [4:48, 5.5mb]
Boogie (dressed) [4:48, 5.5mb]
Countdown Blues: Written with my band Whiskey Run, here's an instrumental version.
Countdown Blues [3:05, 3.5mb]
Countrified: Built around a royalty-free acoustic guitar loop, I added drums, bass, banjo and some other stuff.
Countrified [3:30, 4mb]
Dave's Rave: My attempt to do a Lords of Acid tune. My friend Pamela—a married, Jewish mom of 2—suggested that it needed "sex noises," so I talked her into recording them in our kitchen one day. She blushed but did a good job. I've also broken out four of the main riffs into smaller, vocal-free snippets.
Dave's Rave — full version with vocals [5:56, 6.8mb]
Dave's Rave 1 [1:06, 1.3mb]
Dave's Rave 2 [1:06, 1.3mb]
Dave's Rave 3 [1:21, 1.6mb]
Dave's Rave 4 [1:54, 2.2mb]
Lite Jazz: Threw this one in for a change of pace. Constructed of royalty-free loops.
Lite Jazz [2:08, 2.4mb]
Louder Than Words: Written with my band Whiskey Run, here's an instrumental version.
Louder Than Words [3:24, 3.9mb]
Mersey Riff: My love of the Stone Roses unconsciously produced this track. Constructed of royalty-free loops.
Mersey Riff [1:52, 2.2mb]
Railroad (instrumental reprise): I recorded a version of "I've Been Working on the Railroad," and these are the tracks that got left over at the end.
Railroad - instrumental reprise [1:28, 1.7mb]
Rough and Tumble: Constructed of royalty-free loops, with me playing guitar over the top (in more ways than one).
Rough and Tumble [1:35, 1.8mb]
Spy Theme 2004: Constructed entirely of royalty-free loops. This is one of my first compositions, and it won a 2004 Mac Addict Garageband contest (judged by Joe Satriani, no less!). I've also created a "studio" version without the audience SFX.
Spy Theme 2004 - Live [1:04, 1.2mb]
Spy Theme 2004 - Studio [0:55, 1.1mb]
Touchdown Riff: Constructed of royalty-free loops. This track and "Rough and Tumble" both grew out of my "Dave's Rave" phase.
